Today, Marilyn Monroe would have turned 86 years old. I always wonder what she would have accomplished if she had lived.
In grad school I designed a project around that concept. Instead of passing away at the age of 36, she woke up in the hospital with Joe DiMaggio back at her side. They remarried, she starred on Broadway, started her own production company, and starred as Blanche Devereaux on The Golden Girls (sorry Rue!).
Her life was somewhat tragic and a lot of mystery surrounds her death. However, one thing is true… she had dreams and she did everything she could to make them happen. She was sometimes serious, sometimes silly, but always magical. Her movies will continue to make me smile and her iconic style will always be an inspiration.
Happy Birthday Miss Monroe.
